Danny not surprised Kenny ran the show

- By CHRIS JACK

DANNY WILSON reckons the script was written for Kenny Miller to inspire Rangers to victory over Hearts on Saturday.

The striker marked his return to the team with a match-winning performance as he netted a brace and set up Josh Windass during a 3-1 success at BT Murrayfield.

It was Miller’s first outing since the Old Firm defeat at Ibrox last month as he was given the armband by interim boss Graeme Murty.

Wilson was also recalled to the side after Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso were ruled out through suspension and injury respectively.

And the defender was delighted to mark the occasion with a crucial three points just days after Pedro Caixinha’s sacking.

“It is always better when you come back in and the team get a win,” Wilson told RangersTV.

“It has been a difficult week but I thought the boys were terrific.

“It was probably written for Kenny to come back and score. He has had a lot thrown at him in the last few weeks and he has handled himself very well.

“I was delighted for him to come back and do what he does best.

“Some of the performances, all over the pitch, were great and we were delighted to get three points and just move on.

“I have been fit for a while just not involved in squads, which is one of those things.

“I have not had 90 minutes in about six months now so I was tired towards the end but I was delighted to come back in.

“Hopefully I can contribute more going forward. We have competition for places and maybe today I have got in through injuries and suspensions but hopefully I have handled myself well.

“I thought Ross (McCrorie) alongside me was terrific as well.”
