Biggest bang yet for city fireworks sho won Green

- By CATRIONA STEWART

GLASGOW’S Fireworks Display is set to go off with the biggest bang yet.

On November 5, the city will see six tonnes of fireworks explode into the sky – one of the biggest displays ever seen in Glasgow.

The event at Glasgow Green will feature thousands of effects in different colours, some of which have been specially imported for the display.

The whole show is managed and fired by a world class computer firing system controlled by a single encrypted digital signal.

Lord Provost of Glasgow Eva Bolander said: “Fireworks night is a brilliant occasion and we anticipate tens of thousands of people will be at Glasgow Green to enjoy the biggest event of its kind in the city.

“Please stay safe during the dis- play and enjoy what is sure to be a spectacular show.”

Sunday night’s design is timecode synchronised, which means that the fireworks burst in time with the music, accurate to 1/100th of a second. There are a total of 11 computers controlling and firing, all to the music.

Gates for Glasgow’s Fireworks open at 5pm with the display taking place from 7.30pm.

Organisers have urged people attending not to bring their own fireworks, to dress appropriately for the weather conditions on the night, to leave plenty of time to gain access to Glasgow Green and to make sure to follow the safety advice on the big screens.
