Wrestling action at Hydro Student’s Games success

INSANE Championsh­ip Wrestling (ICW) will perform in front of thousands at the city’s SSE Hydro Arena.

The Glasgow firm’s Fear and Loathing event on Sunday, November 19, is the second time the company has held an event at the venue.

Former WWE Superstars Kevin Nash, Rey Mysterio and Rob Van Dam are set to appear among the best talent ICW have to offer.

This year’s main event will see champion vs champion as World Heavyweigh­t Champion Joe Coffey faces Zero G Champion BT Gunn. It is only the second time ever that both titles will be up for grabs in the same match. The winner being crowned undisputed champion.

Wrestler Coffey said: “Champions have come and gone in ICW but I think I’ll always stand out as the best. I’ve had the best money matches the company has had to offer at shows across the UK.”

Tickets are on sale now. A STUDENT from Ayrshire College represente­d Great Britain at the European Youth Paralympic Games.

Ryan Sallens was selected for Team GB’s sailing team, just four years after taking up the sport.

The 20-year-old, who is hard of hearing and visually impaired, was competing abroad for the first time when he challenged at the European Games in Liguria, Italy, in October.

The Royal Yachting Associatio­n offered Ryan a place on the four-person boat.

They also covered the costs of Ryan’s entry fee and accommodat­ion and also made a contributi­on towards his travel costs.

Ryan started his Sport & Fitness course at Ayrshire College this yea.

Ryan said “I love sailing. It felt amazing to be selected for Team GB and I loved competing in Italy.

“I’ve met a lot of new friends so far at Ayrshire College, who are keen to help me and want to learn sign language.”
