FORMER St Mirren manager Danny Lennon reckons that posing as a Stirling Albion fan and paying £13 for admission to Broadwood last weekend was well worth it as it helped him return to football as the manager of Clyde.

Lennon sneaked into the Cumbernauld ground to spy on the Bully Wee as he had an interview the following day with chairman Norris Innes and he wanted to be as up to date with the team as possible.

The move worked as Lennon was appointed on Monday and is now looking forward to getting in for free when his side meets East Fife in the Scottish Cup this Saturday.

Lennon said: “I wanted to avoid any awkward situations so I became a ‘Bino’ for the day. I paid to get in and sit with the Stirling fans so no-one was putting two and two together if they saw me in the Clyde end of the ground.”

“I enjoyed the game and was able to use what I had seen in my interview. It was a good move as it got me the job.”

Lennon added: “After working with St Mirren in the top flight and then Alloa in the Championship people might be surprised to see me so excited about being at Clyde. However I am and I believe that we could be a great fit for each other.”

“There is a great platform here in terms of the facilities as we are training at Broadwood twice a week again with a new chairman who wants to drive the club forward.”

“I am looking forward to playing my part and managing the team as opposed to paying to watch them.”
