Coyle hopes KT fluffs landmark

- By ALASDAIR FRASER

OWEN COYLE would love to see Kieran Tierney’s halo slip just a little bit today as he marks a Celtic century.

A dip in performance, costly error or some small reminder Scotland’s brightest young talent does do bad days at the office.

Safe to say, though, the Ross County manager isn’t holding his breath.

The Celtic full-back’s incredible consistency of performance as part of a treble-winning Parkhead side now excelling in the Champions League is well-documented.

Most days, it delights and astounds the boyhood Celtic supporter in the County dugout, but not today.

The County manager said: “Kieran obviously recently signed a new deal to stay with Glasgow Celtic. His development has been fantastic.

“When you look at the whole set-up, similar to any club, the coaches who worked with Kieran as a young player deserve enormous credit form that development through to him reaching the first team at a very early age.

“Since then, he has gone from strength to strength. Brendan and his staff have brought even more out of him, but the biggest factor has been the kid himself.

“When you listen to him in interviews he is very grounded and humble. That’s why, as football lovers as we are, you love to see boys like Kieran doing really well. On the one hand, you know how much it means to them, but also you know how much they care for their own club.

“That shines like a beacon when you see him, how much he loves being at Celtic. We have the difficult job of trying to stop him.”
