Griff hungry for century in Hoops

at the back of your mind. You always know that you are clinging on it and it feels good with every goal that takes you that step closer to it.

“But my main aim at the minute is to get back in the starting XI. Moussa [Dembele] has been on fire at times since he has come back and I am not complainin­g. I just want to keep doing what I have been.

“If I am coming on and making an impact then I will hopefully be in among the goals.

“The main thing for me is that to score I need to play. I have had my fair share of niggling injuries and I missed a couple of games but it was more of a precaution rather than anything else.”

Despite being just six goals off the 100, Griffiths has insisted that he will not be hogging the ball over the next few weeks.

“Whenever I am playing my main thought is to help the team get the three points, even if that means helping someone else to score,” he said.

The striker hit 100 top flight goals at the weekend with his combined tally of Premier League goals for Hibs and Celtic.

The free-kick to seal the points in Dingwall was a fitting way to mark that particular accolade but he has maintained that his sights are on the next one.

“It is always nice to hit milestones but the next one that I want to hit is 100 all in for Celtic,” he said. “It will have been a long time coming but I am already looking forward to it.

“Everybody knows that scoring 100 goals at any club is special and I can’t wait to do it.

“It was nice to know at the weekend that I had hit another wee landmark but this is the one that I have had in mind all season.”
