Digital app for reporting abuse
CHILDREN in care will be able to report incidents of abuse using a new digital app that is being rolled out in Glasgow.
Social care charity Quarriers, which is launching the technology, said children had reported feeling more “comfortable and safe” discussing concerns during early trials.
Some children had also started communicating with social workers for the first time.
The app, Mind of My Own (MOMO) uses child-focused language and will initially be rolled out to children supported by Quarriers Kinship Care service in Glasgow.
The service provides support to children who are not living with parents but who are cared for by other family members.
Quarriers is the first voluntary sector organisation to use the technology but it is already used by more than 60 organisations in the UK.
Alice Harper, Quarriers chief executive officer said:“We’re excited to be able to give the children and young people we are supporting a new tool which can help them share their experiences about what’s going well or areas that need attention.
“Quarriers is driven by a determination to bring positive changes in the lives of vulnerable people so we’re delighted that we can now give children and young people another way of speaking-up.”
