‘Title talk is nonsense without real consistenc­y’

He said: “I think at the moment they’re on top.

“Chasing is a good position to be in, but we have to be better and more consistent – that’s the theme for the season.

“We have had a couple of good results, but then possibly had a stumble and we have to hit a level of consistenc­y and performanc­e that we have shown we can do, but we have to do it more often if we are going to get back towards the top of the table.

“We are in second at the moment, but we have to take care of the small details and see where we are after the game.”

The Easter Road clash is the second of seven matches that the Gers will play this month before the top flight shutdown.

The final fixture of the year is the derby duel with Celtic and Murty is eager to maintain the Light Blues’ unbeaten run heading into the Parkhead showdown.

He said: “This is Rangers, we should be looking at that.

“We are looking at making sure we take care of one marker at a time. If we get carried away and start looking at Celtic Park, I have got no doubt there are opponents before that that will be looking to trip us up.

“Hibs will play to win the game and we have to deal with that, their intensity, because they have got some good players.

“They’ve been successful this season and we have to make sure we are fully prepared for that.”
