Girl’s ordeal as robber in car cash grab

-

A YOUNG girl was left traumatised after a stranger broke into her dad’s car to rob him while she was sitting there on the school run.

Cops are now investigating the blatant robbery which they say was pre-planned.

It happened in Govanhill at around 8.50am on Thursday.

Detectives investigating said the 47 year-old man was dropping one of his children at school whilst his nine yearold daughter remained in the car, which was parked on Craigie Street near to the junction of Allison Street.

A man then opened the driver’s door of the silver Vauxhall Zafira and took a green bag which contained a five-figure sum of cashs.

He then made off on foot towards Prince Edward Street. The girl was not in- jured during the incident.

The suspect is described as around 6ft, white, with a Glaswegian accent and had glasses on. He was wearing dark clothing, a black hat and black fleece gloves.

Detective Constable LeeAnne Miller, at Cathcart CID, said: “A young girl has been left absolutely traumatised by this incident, which we believe was pre-planned, and it is vital that we can trace the despicable person responsible.

“The surrounding area would have been busy at the time of the robbery, with parents dropping their children off at school and people heading to work, and it is imperative that anyone with information comes forward.”
