Don’t let the fizz go flat

By all means let’s get this party started, but take your health and welfare seriously this Christmas

-

GLASGOW has always enjoyed a well deserved reputation for having great nightlife and this is especially true over the festive season.

As the city gears up for the Christmas and New Year shenanigans, party-goers are being reminded to plan ahead this year and stay safe.

After ending the year in style either with friends, family, or work colleagues, the last thing you want is to end up stranded in the freezing dark streets trying to hail a cab or walking home alone.

Always try to book taxis or arrange lifts for the end of the event, as nothing spoils a good night out faster than realising you face a three hour wait.

For women, walking in heels over a long distance can be painful work, so sticking a pair of flat shoes in your bag gives you at least one thing to look forward to if you do get delayed from jumping into your comfy bed.

Drivers should arrange a safe place to leave the car overnight so you can put your mind at ease that you know it’s secure when the morning hangover kicks in.

The best way to start the night is on a full stomach, although it’s something we have all at one time been guilty of dismissing. Lining your stomach with a proper meal will give you greater stamina to last the night, hopefully with minimal regrets .

Never leave a party alone or with someone you don’t know and don’t abandon a friend in need, it’s never worth the risk. Keep your wits about you at all times in busy nightclubs and never accept a drink from someone you don’t know well.

Staying up all night and going straight to work is fine if you can hide it with an outfit change and removal of party makeup. However, going into work still under the influence is never fine as colleagues and especially bosses have long, long memories.

So enjoy a fabulous festive season, but stay safe and healthy and don’t make it one to remember for all the wrong reasons.
