‘Stunning’ response to Giving Tree

-

MORE than 250 families will be receiving gifts through a Giving Tree set up at a Glasgow shopping centre.

The Forge worked in partnership w ith local East End charity ‘With Kids’ to set up the tree to give kids, who would otherwise go without, a treat this Christmas.

Thousands of gifts have been donated and have since been delivered to With Kids ready for their Christmas delivery.

The tree initially started out with the aim of helping 48 families requiring help.

After the Giving Tree went viral, so did the awareness of the support offered by With Kids.

As a result, an additional 54 families have registered with the charity.

A total of 257 children in total will now receive gifts donated by the Forge customers, to make this Christmas one they will never forget.

In 2017 the Centre aimed to collect £2,000 worth of gifts for the children’s charity based on the 2016 response, with the appeal going viral this has had an overwhelming response with an estimated £80k worth of gifts donated to the cause.

Suzy Blair, Community Development Officer from With Kids said: “We’ve been absolutely stunned by the incredible response to our Christmas Appeal this year.

“Christmas can be an incredibly stressful time of year for many families but the amazing support that we’ve received will go a long way to helping ease the pressure. We can’t thank everybody enough for donating, tweeting, sharing and talking about our appeal.”
