Gers MD: Issue is King’s not players’

- By CHRIS JACK

STEWART ROBERTSON insists the Court of Session verdict against Dave King will have no impact on Rangers.

The Ibrox chairman has been ordered to make an offer to shareholders in Rangers International Football Club plc following a ruling from the Takeover Panel.

It was judged that King acted in concert with George Letham, George Taylor and Douglas Park as he ousted the former Light Blues board in March 2015.

King is now required to make an offer at 20p per share to Ibrox investors but Managing Director Robertson believes it won’t be an issue for Rangers going forward.

He said: “It doesn’t have any impact on us at all. That is an issue for Dave in terms of the shareholders.

“In terms of the day to day running of the club and the PLC and the share issue we are looking at in the future, it has no i mpact on that whatsoever.

“I don’t believe [there will be any impact on Dave’s investment]. It is an issue for Dave.

“As far as the club is concerned, we are j ust running as we do. It is not impacting on any decisions we are taking at all.”

Shareholders voted to approve plans for a share issue at t he Annual General Meeting last month and that could see a handful of investors convert some of their soft loans into equity.

The Ibrox squad will require significant investment once again but Robertson knows there are a number of areas that need addressed with cash.

He said: “There will still be funds there for the summer regardless of the share issue. There are other things we need to do at the club.

“There are infrastructure things and the area around the stadium.

“The board are committed to the funds that are there. We don’t have specific targets for the summer yet.

“There is a lot of work being done by the guys in the scouting team.

“That’s great and a major move forward in the last three months since Mark [Allen] came in.

“That helps and hopefully means there are fewer mistakes on that side of things.”
