after successive top flight losses. He said: “The Motherwell game is the one. It is huge. You can’t lose three games in a row at Rangers.

“The players need to look at themselves. We need to take full responsibility. We are the only ones that can change it. After two defeats we need to get back on track. It has not been good enough.

“Of course we are disappointed and we have spoken about it. But, there is a game on Wednesday we need to go and win.

“We need to look at what we can do better and there are a lot things we can do better.

“We need a reaction. Simple as that. We need to win that game. We need to show that we can stand up to any challenge.

“I think we have showed that in certain games but we need to show it more often.”

Rangers looked to be finding their feet under the guidance of Murty earlier this month as they followed up the back-toback wins over Aberdeen with battling victories at home to Ross County and away to Hibernian.

But St Johnstone became the latest side to take points at Ibrox this term as they emerged 3-1 winners in what proved to be Murty’s final match as interim boss.

The 2-1 reverse to Killie at the weekend was far from the way the 43-year-old had hoped to begin his reign as on a permanent basis.

And the pressure is back on the Light Blues as they attempt to finish the year on a high before the shutdown.

Holt said: “It has not always been plain sailing and it is tough times.

“You go home and start to over-think.

“I’m just desperate to win games for this club because that is all that is acceptable.”
