WHEN EMERGENCY CALL CONNECTS

-

999 service since its early days and the staff at Glasgow still have to deal with them today.

One woman called because her husband had lost his pyjamas and he could not breathe without them.

Another caller asked for the police because his snowman had been stolen from his garden.

But the professionalism of the team at BT means their call handlers are able to deal with the quirkier side of the job.

Brian said: “We do get some comedy calls but we tend to take a huge amount of pride in what we do. Glasgow is the only site in the UK which BT classes as lead centre.

“We value what we do and we value the service we provide.”

Craig said: “We do help people out there because we are on the frontline and I am very passionate about that.”

Brian added: “If you were to ask your friends about 999 I don’t think many would know it is BT that you speak to first of all. People just assume they are asking for the police and speaking to them

“They are not aware that BT connect the call to each emergency authority.

“The staff are trained to a high standard and they are hugely professional in what they do.

“They take these types of calls and incidents in their stride.

“All credit to them for that.”
