Call for £2000 to help save pet dog’s life
A DEVASTATED dog owner has made a heartfelt plea for help to raise £2000 to get a “mushroom” like lump removed from her beloved pet’s head.
Erin Leith says her two-year-old Jack Russell Winnie will not survive if she doesn’t receive the life-saving treatment for the growth in Glasgow.
The 19-year-old said all of her pet insurance was used to get tests for pooch Winnie after being back and forward to the vet to try and get a diagnosis.
Erin, from Greenock, says she is desperate for help to save the pooch which has been with Erin since she was 12 weeks old. She said: “If it doesn’t get removed, it will grow down behind Winnie’s eye socket and put pressure on her brain.
“It would mean the world to me if we got this treatment.”
Erin’s dad Brian said: “We’ve been back and forward to the vets, as we were covered by pet insurance and through a scheme at Shore Vets.”
The dog had a biopsy at the vets and the family were told that Winnie didn’t have cancer.
But they referred her to Vets Now in Glasgow for a second opinion, which confirmed this diagnosis.
The costly tests meant that the £3000 insurance fund has been wiped out and the family cannot afford to pay for treatment.
Brian says that if the lump on Winnie’s head is not removed, she will not see out the year and they will be forced to put her to sleep.
He said: “It’s on top of her skull, like a mushroom. We need to remove it.”
