Drink ban for travelling Rangers fans
RANGERS fans travelling to Fraserburgh for the Scottish Cup match have been warned not to drink in the street.
Cops in the Aberdeenshire town will police thousands of fans attending the match tomorrow.
And, ahead of the first match of its kind for Fraserburgh, police have issued some general advice about travelling to the grounds, including arrive early, plan ahead and allow plenty of time for your journey, be aware of planned engineering works on railway and on the A90 for the Aberdeen bypass, and that parking restrictions will be in place
As the match is sold out, police are advising fans not to travel to Fraserburgh if they don’t have tickets, as there will be no ticket sales on the gate.
Police are also advising fans to allow plenty of time for their journeys and to get to the stadium early due to the large number of people expected to attend the game.
Inspector Kevin Goldie said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming Rangers to Fraserburgh and we’re sure that those attending will enjoy t he match responsibly.
“This is a great event for Fraserburgh and we are grateful to the local commu- nity for their support. There will be an increased police presence in the area ... we’re a friendly bunch so please stop and speak to us if you have any questions or concerns.
“There is a bye-law in place in Fraserburgh that prevents drinking alcohol in public places.
“Please be mindful of this and the usual rules that apply for travelling to football matches.”
