Graeme: Tav could go higher in game

GRAEME MURTY believes James Tavernier can move on to a higher level in the game if he can hit the heights on a more regular basis.

The right-back has become an integral part of the Rangers side since he moved from Wigan in Mark Warburton’s first summer at the Ibrox helm.

Tavernier has once again turned in a number of impressive performances this term and Murty knows everyone in his squad must find a level of consistency in the coming months.

He said: “We haven’t had anything for him but if he continues to play like he did at Celtic Park you wouldn’t be surprised. His task is to make himself the target of an outrageous bid.

“If he wants to go and play in the Premier League, which seems to be the end goal for most people, he has to be outstanding at everything every single day because that will translate into performance.

“We have all seen his top level of performance, we know how good he can be. I have said to the entire squad that our top level what define what we do individually and collectively this season, it is what we do on a daily basis. We have to make sure our daily operating is of a higher level than it has been.”

Midfielder Josh Windass is another member of Murty’s squad that has caught the eye on occasions in recent months.

He said: “As far as I am aware we have had one offer and that was from Preston. That was turned down. Other than that, it is just paper talk.

“All players are included in the plans. How vital they are is down to them.”
