Callum relishes fight for his jersey
CELTIC midfielder Callum McGregor has insisted that he has no fears about any new arrivals in the transfer window.
Admitting that it was perhaps the quietest one he had ever experienced at the club, McGregor nevertheless vowed that he is prepared to keep fighting for his place regardless of what may transpire in the final stages.
“There’s not been much happening, it’s probably the quietest one I’ve seen so far but there is still time,” said McGregor.
“The manager will be looking. For us we have to keep doing it on the pitch and in training. I think every season I’ve been here they have signed an attacking midfielder or a midfielder.
“That’s just part of life of being at a big club. You have to keep going and keep proving yourself.”
Meanwhile, McGregor is ready to hit the ground running as Celtic prepare for a busy fortnight. They take on Partick Thistle tomorrow night at Firhill before Hibs and Hearts in quick succession next week, with McGregor admitting that atoning for the 4-0 defeat at Tynecastle in December has featured in his thinking.
“We’re used to that, two or three games a week,” he said. “We’ve just come off the back of a break so we are fresh and ready to go and enjoy the challenge.
“We played a lot of games – it was high demand in Champions League games too. We were at it every week and the break was good both for the legs and mentally. We needed it.
“You could see throughout the team that freshness is back.
“You look at the fixtures and you know it’s [Hearts] round the corner. The big reason we have been successful is that we just looked at game after game. But we’ll look at that fixture and hope we can bounce back from the one in
