Drunk lost her rag after Christmas Day blowout

- By JENNESS MITCHELL

Court Reporter A WOMAN who lost her rag on Christmas Day has been tagged for her boozy behaviour.

After overindulging on cider, Laura Murray got into a fight with her partner and then called the cops accusing him of assaulting her.

When the police responded to the call, the accused refused the constables entry.

She stated: “F*** off, I’m not letting you in.”

Fiscal depute Clara Smeaton told Glasgow Sheriff Court that the constables were eventually allowed entry, but the defendant became aggressive when they spoke to her partner.

Murray, 30, shouted: “You’re a f****** grass.”

She also told the police to “f*** off” during a sustained foul-mouthed tirade .

At 8.30pm she was placed under arrest. She responded by kicking a constable on the knee and continued to shout and swear at Govan police station.

Sheriff Norman Ritchie asked if Murray had been drinking on the day of the incident. The accused nodded from the dock as the court was told the argument with her partner began after drinking cider.

Murray’s lawyer claimed that his client had little recollection of the incident on December 25, last year, but appreciated that her conduct was inappropriate.

The defence agent explained that the accused had been homeless for years, but recently turned a corner thanks to securing a flat.

He stated that after representing Murray for over a decade, he noticed an improvement and asked for the sheriff to give her a chance.

He added: “I didn’t think I’d see this change in attitude.”

Sheriff Ritchie sentenced the ac- cused to a Community Payback Order with supervision for 18 months.

Murray, of Wyndford Road, was also handed a Restriction of Liberty Order in which she will have to remain at home between the hours of 7pm and 7am.

Sheriff Ritchie told the accused that the curfew will be lifted in three months if she behaves herself during that time.
