Dealer jailed as 400,000 fake valium tablets seized

-

A DRUG dealer is behind bars after police smashed a lucrative fake Valium drugs racket.

Ryan Bradford was snared after officers seized 400,000 tablets from his base in Maryhill.

The 33 year-old’s arrest in January 2017 came during a large-scale probe into the sale of dodgy pills across Scotland.

Bradford’s drugs were being peddled as valium – but were instead a “psychoactive substance” called Etizolam.

The crime funded an expensive lifestyle with Chris- tian Louboutin shoes, designer jackets and a receipt for an £8,000 watch found at the home he shared with lover Jodie Gilmour.

Gilmour – who once reportedly spent thousands on new teeth despite being jobless – effectively was his chauffeur at times with Bradford banned from driving.

Bradford now faces a lengthy jail-term after he pleaded guilty to being involved in the supply of Etizolam.

Gilmour, 23, also faced the accusation, but had not guilty pleas accepted.

Bradford – previously locked up for cocaine dealing – will be sentenced later this month.

Prosecutor Jane Farquharson said the recent Psychoactive Substances Act was formed partly due to Scots police “encounter- ing tablets” that looked like valium, but “with none of that drug within”.

Bradford came under surveillance as detectives probed his involvement in the illegal trade.

He was spotted turning up on “multiple occasions” at a flat in Benview Street.

Miss Farquharson said: “Bradford was seen carrying out various drugs transactions to a variety of individuals. He was often seen entering and exiting the property on Benview Street.”

The court heard Bradford was banned from the road at the time.

The court heard one drug user believed she was purchasing valium “on a daily basis” from Bradford.

The advocate depute: “If she wanted to buy, she would respond and advise of the quantity she needed.

“She would then be notified by a further text message at what time and where her pills would be delivered to.”

It was on January 26 last year that Bradford was spotted pulling up in an Audi driven by Gilmour.

Officers then swooped as Bradford was ready to open the front door.
