Teen punched in face by thug

A TEENAGE boy was punched in the face by a violent thug.

Detectives are appealing for informatio­n following the robbery in Paisley’s King Street on Wednesday, February 7.

At around 6.30pm, the 14-year-old victim was stopped by a man near the railway bridge at the junction with Douglas Street.

The man asked to borrow the boy’s mobile phone before punching him on the face and running off from the scene.

The victim then informed two police officers out on mobile patrol about the incident.

The teenager did not require hospital treatment following the attack.

The suspect is described as white, 5ft 5in, with short dark hair and was wearing a black hooded top with an Adidas logo on the front.

Detective Constable Craig Stirling, from Paisley CID, said: “This was a callous and opportunis­tic attack on a teenage boy and it is vital that we trace the individual responsibl­e. I would appeal to anyone who was in the area who either witnessed what happened or noticed a man matching the above descriptio­n acting suspicious­ly, to please get in touch.”
