Warriors slain by Dragons in Wales

- By LEWIS STUART

WITH nine on Scotland duty and another 14 on the injury list, it was always going to be tough for Glasgow, reflected. Dave Rennie, the head coach after seeing his team. Throw away a 10-point first half lead, fail to score after the break and have to settle for a draw.

“”It was was always going to be tough,” he said.

“They were missing two guys to international footie, we have 23 guys missing this weekend.

“It is a a bit of experience missing.

“We talked about being more direct.

“At 15-5 we should have made a statement and we had another bust that we should have scored of, but we played too much of the game in the middle third of the field, going sideways and turning over too much pill.”

The teams had found themselves level at the break after a first half of changing fortunes – the Dragons taking an early lead through hooker Liam Belcher, but Glasgow then going ahead as George Horne, the scrum half, first manufactured a try for Brandon Thompson, the centre, and then finished a break from Nick Grigg, the other centre.

Adam Hastings was forced to drop kick the first conversion after the kicking tee went AWOL, but landed the second and a penalty to hand his side a comfortable lead only for the Dragons to fight their way back into it.

Zane Kirchner, playing at fly half, started it with a penalty but it was H allam Amos, the full back, who made the big difference with a superb solo break from his own 22 finished by Jared Rosser, the wing.

Nor was there much to choose between the sides in a second half of absolute boredom as neither side could find the continuity to string any level of attacking play together, with neither able to add to the score.
