Tributes to girl, 16, who died in hospital
TRIBUTES have been flooding in for the teenager who died after being rushed into hospital.
Lucy Curran, 16, from Giffnock, who was a pupil at St Ninian’s High School, passed away at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in the early hours of Wednesday.
Police said her death was not being treated as suspicious.
Since the news broke, devastated pals have taken to social media to post messages of condolence to the youngster as they struggle to come to terms.
Glasgow pop band, Single By Sunday, issued a heartrending statement upon hearing of the loss of Lucy, who was a big fan of the group.
One of its members wrote: “We’ve lost a fan, best friend, but to me a younger sister.
“She was always happy, she was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I could always count on Lucy to talk about my problems, I shared secrets with Lucy that I don’t tell anyone. I miss her so much. You will never be forgotten.”
“Absolutely heartbroken for her family. You boys were so fortunate to share so many nice times with Lucy. Treasure those memories forever. A truly beautiful and innocent girl,” was another touching message.
One pal, who said she only knew Lucy for a short time, added: “Rest in peace. Have only known you a few months but you’ve always had the most beautiful personality, smile and welcoming nature. So glad to have met you. Strength and love to all your family and friends. You’ll be missed.”
“I’m shocked. She was a lovely girl. If anyone ever needs someone to talk to, I’m just a message away,” was another message.
Police Scotland said they were made aware of the death at around 9.20am on Wednesday.
A spokeswoman said: “The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
A spokesman for Renfrewshire Council said the school would not be issuing a statement.
