Craig was Counting on win for Hearts...

- By KEN MILLAR

HEARTS manager Craig Levein felt his players should have been able to see off Ross County as they let their lead slip to leave Dingwall with just a point.

Kyle Lafferty’s free-kick was cancelled out by Jason Naismith’s close-range equaliser 15 minutes from time as the teams shared the spoils.

Despite only suffering one defeat in their last 16 matches, Levein was not happy with the way his side allowed County to get back into the match.

“The game really opened up in the second half and normally we can manage to control that,” he said.

“But given the nature of the players we had on the field it probably resulted in that happening.

“My hope was that we would get a second goal. If we get a second goal we win the game. I am convinced of that. But we didn’t manage to.

“Ross County were adventurous and they showed that when they scored the equaliser with their full-back.”

Meanwhile, Hearts midfielder Arnaud Djoum’s season is over after it was confirmed he snapped his Achilles tendon during the stalemate.

The Cameroonian midfielder was taken off midway through the first half when he appeared to fall to the ground unchallenged and was stretchered off the field.

“Arnaud was taken off after he snapped his Achilles tendon and will be out for seven to eight months,” added Levein.

“He has been a real important player for us and he was just getting back to his best.

“He is really disappointed, but the older you are in these situations you can handle them better.”
