Police launch probe into late-night shooting

AQUIET street in Cambuslang was today cordoned off by police after a man was shot in a late-night attack.

The 49-year-old man was shot multiple times around 8.50pm on Cadoc Street last night.

The victim managed to stagger into a nearby pub,

the Kirkhill Bar, after being ambushed as he parked his car.

Shocked customers looked on as the injured man was taken to a separate lounge where attempts were made to stem the bleeding before emergency services arrived.

Early reports suggested the victim had been shot in the face and stomach.

Armed police were dispatched to the scene before the man was taken by ambulance to hospital.

Medical staff have described his condition as ‘stable’.

Police remained on the scene this morning with much of Cadoc Street cordoned off.

A Police Scotland spokespers­on said: “At around 8:50pm police received report of a 49-year-old male found with gunshot wounds in Cadoc Street, Cambuslang.

“Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment where his condition is described as stable.

“Police officers are still on the scene dealing with the ongoing incident to try and establish the full circumstan­ces surroundin­g it.”
