Spiders boss Gus gutted at stalemate

- By CHRIS JACK

GUS MACPHERSON was disappointed Queen’s Park couldn’t capitalise against 10-man Forfar as they were held to a draw at Hampden.

The Spiders missed the chance to move off the foot of the League One standings after four goals ensured the points were shared.

Adam Cummins cancelled out Dale Hilson’s opener before Aidan Keena put Queen’s in front early in the second half.

But it was Forfar that reacted smartly after the dismissal of defender Eddie Malone, with Dylan Easton netting the final goal of the game with 15 minutes remaining.

MacPherson said: “We played well and looked on course to win until the red card reduced Forfar to 10 men.

“We simply did not manage to handle that situation and the game could have gone either way.”

There was at least some positive news for QP on Saturday, though, as relegation rivals Albion Rovers went down 2-0 at East Fife.

Goals from Aaron Dunsmore and Chris Duggan were enough as Darren Young clinched the win against his old club.

And Cliftonhill boss Brian Kerr was frustrated his side didn’t do more at Bayview as they remained ninth in the standings.

He said: “We missed two really early chances and that was the be all and end all of the game. We didn’t believe that we could get back into it.”

In League Two, Clyde’s impressive recent run under Danny Lennon came to an end against promotion chasers Stirling.

Kevin Nicholl had brought the Bully Wee back into the game just before half-time as he cancelled out Darren Smith’s opener.

But it was the Binos that secured all three points as striker Peter MacDonald netted against his former club.
