Celtic Foundation helps dementia care centre
CELTIC FC’s charity arm is working with a specialist care centre to provide respite for people with dementia patients and their carers.
Celtic FC Foundation has teamed up with The Eric Liddell Centre in Edinburgh to launch a joint project which was made possible a range of fundraising activities during the 50th anniversary of the club’s 1967 European Cup victory.
The Lions Legacy campaign saw an incredible £2million raised to support different projects across the UK.
This project titled Liddell Lions Lunch Breaks and jointly aiding dementia care provision, will work with individuals living with the condition as well as their carers.
Liddell Lions Lunch Breaks. operates on a simple, friendly and inclusive approach, prioritising responsive and engaging activities for both carers, and people living with early to mid-stages of dementia.
Representatives from the Celtic Foundation, including ex-player Bertie Auld, a member of Celtic’s 1967 Lisbon Lions side, attended the first session of the project.
Tony Hamilton, CEO of Celtic FC Foundation, said: “It was great to see this get off the ground.
“The people involved at the centre are magnificent.”
John MacMillan, CEO of the Eric Liddell Centre, added: “We are honoured to be working alongside the Celtic FC Foundation in what is a vital project in terms of improving the quality of life among people with dementia as well as their carers.”
