Work order for teenagerwho kicked off in bar

A DRUNKEN teenager had to be restrained after he thumped a bar manager at a Glasgow Green boozer.

Mason Fox, 19, hit out after he was escorted from the beer garden at WEST On The Green.

It was around 5.40pm when the teen was asked to leave the premises due to his intoxicated state.

He got into an argument with the door steward to which the bar manager had to intervene. The two workers then took hold of Fox and ushered him out of the venue, but when they let him go the youngster punched the bar manager on the left ear.

The accused was restrained and taken to the ground by the two men.

Relatives of Fox, who were also at the establishment, gathered as the drama unfolded.

The teen was eventually let go.

Police later identified the accused via CCTV. The victim suffered redness to his ear, but did not require medical attention.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Fox pleaded guilty to punching a man on the head at WEST On The Green near Binnie Place on September 23 last year.

The accused was said to be “acutely embarrassed” of his actions and agreed that his behaviour was unacceptable.

His lawyer stated: “He’s not a drinker as such.

“He was drunk. He doesn’t get drunk.”

Sheriff Diana McConnell noted from Fox’s Criminal Justice Social Work report that he was dedicated and hard-working.

She sentenced the accused, of no fixed abode, to a Community Payback Order with 110 hours of unpaid work to be completed within nine months.
