Services go off the rails

A DOZEN city rail services have been cancelled tonight due to delayed engineerin­g works.

As the Evening Times went to press, operators were working to arrange replacemen­t bus services, and bosses have assured passengers tickets will be accepted on alternativ­e routes. A ScotRail Alliance spokeswoma­n said: “We are doing everything we can to minimise the impact.”

RAIL bosses have apologised after delayed engineerin­g works forced the cancellati­on of more than a dozen rail services in Glasgow tonight.

Work being carried out at Kilwinning station was due to be finished over the weekend, however, the delay has resulted in trains throughout the west of Scotland being cancelled later this evening.

ScotRail has assured tickets will be accepted on alternativ­e routes.

As the Evening Times went to press, replacemen­t buses had been requested but there had been no confirmati­on the request was granted for all services.

A ScotRail Alliance spokeswoma­n said: “Due to engineerin­g works at Kilwinning not finishing on time disruption is expected until the end of today.

“We are sorry for the inconvenie­nce. We are doing everything we can to minimise the impact on customer journeys.”

The following services have been cancelled tonight: 9.15pm from Glasgow Central to Ardrossan Harbour; 10.16pm from Glas- gow Central to Ardrossan Town; 11.45pm from Glasgow Central to Ardrossan South Beach; 9.30pm from Glasgow Central to Ayr; 10pm from Glasgow Central to Ayr; 10.30pm from Glasgow Central to Ayr; 11pm from Glasgow Central to Ayr; 11.30pm from Glasgow Central to Ayr; 0.15am from Glasgow Central to Ayr; 9.45pm from Glasgow Central to Largs; 10.45pm from Glasgow Central to Largs; 11.15pm from Glasgow Central to Largs.

Passengers have also been advised that services from Largs and from Ardrossan to Central will call at platform two at Kilwinning today, instead of platform one.

Replacemen­t buses have been confirmed for: 9.31pm Harbour to Glasgow Central; 9.45pm from Ayr to Glasgow Central; 10.15pm from Ayr to Glasgow Central; 11pm from Ayr to Glasgow Central; 9.52pm from Largs to Glasgow Central; 10.52pm from Largs to Glasgow Central.
