pects us to take something from the game is incentive enough ias far as I’m concerned.”

The 32-year-old looks certain to have a new strike partner in Saturday’s game after Marc “Squib” McKenzie was ruled out with a knee injury. Terracing whispers say that recent signing Dominic O’Halloran, formerly of Shotts Bon Accord and younger brother of Rangers front man Michael, will be paired with Daly in attack.

He added: “Squib missing out is a blow but Dominic will be fired up to prove his worth and we also have my former Queens Park team-mate Martin McBride relishing the opportunity to play in the derby.

“As well as being a very creative midfield type he is someone who just doesn’t like being second best.

“My former Lok skipper John Sweeney was cut of that very same cloth which is why I tried my utmost to persuade Chris Mackie to sign him at the start of this season but unfortunately John decided to join Kilbirnie Ladeside and we lost out.

“We have lacked a fiercelydetermined type ever since but Martin is definitely someone with the qualities to be that particular jigsaw piece.”

One-time Clyde frontman Daly had a good scoring record in games with Pollok when he played for Petershill and he would love nothing better than to get off the mark against them wearing an Arthurlie shirt.

He insisted: “If selected I’ll be giving everything but I have every respect for Pollok defenders Paul Gallagher, Bryan Wharton and Grant Evans, whom I’ve come up against many times in the Seniors.

“Gal and I also played together at Queens Park and we know each other’s games inside out, so I’m pretty sure he’s looking forward to keeping my gas at a peep just as much as I’m keen to get one over on him.

“You can bet the old pals act will be nowhere to be seen on Saturday afternoon but hopefully we can still be on speaking terms at the final whistle.”

Earlier today, Arthurlie gaffer Billy Ogilvie confirmed the absence of top scorer McKenzie but refused to divulge his selection thoughts.

He admitted: “I don’t think it’s revealing my hand to say we will rely heavily on Michael Daly to lead the line with Marc unavailable .

“His is a freak injury, caused by twisting his knee when playing in the snow with his children and it is clearly a worry because Marc is still hobbling around and in a lot of pain.

“We are arranging for a scan to try and assess the full extent of his problem and I’ll be keeping fingers crossed that nothing long term is discovered because we really need Marc for our runin games.

“There’s better news on Colin Spence who is back training and will soon be fit to play but Pollok is too soon for him.” himself in glory after twice misguiding crosses but the former Hearts trainee pulled off an impressive save to keep out a ferocious Kallum Higginbotham drive.

The visitors’ evening went from bad to worse in the dying stages when assistant manager Brice Rice was dismissed from the dugout by referee Kevin Clancy.
