Cheeky bar sign removed

-

A SIGN for a bar that read “legs n breasts served here” has been taken down due to complaints about sexism.

The move sparked a debate online, with several people branding it sexist but others defending it.

Popular Glasgow food blogger James Lees took to social media to ask the public whether they agreed with the move.

A GLASGOW bar has been forced to remove one of its promotional signs due to complaints about sexism.

Buck’s Bar, in West Regent Street, had to take the sign down from outside the premises yesterday afternoon.

The board reading “Legs n breasts served here” apparently attracted a number of complaints.

Popular Glasgow food blogger James Lees took to social media to ask the public whether they agreed with the move.

He wrote: “I found out Buck’s Bar removed this sign from outside their premises today because they received complaints from people claiming it was offensive. What do you think?”

The sign has divided opinion, with several people branding it as sexist but others defending it.

Marc Watson said: “And quite rightly so – aren’t we better than this, Glasgow? It’s funny to cut up women now?

“The overtly sexist tone of this horrendous attention-seeking sign is palpable and the implication of violence towards women is thinly disguised indeed. Just another microaggression among thousands.”

Another commenter, Garry McDonald, argued: “It’s your right to be offended by things but being offended doesn’t make you right. They should have left it up.

“People need to start pushing back against this attitude of ‘ If I don’t personally like something and I complain enough about it then it’ll change’.”

Natasha O’Neill added: “People really need to get a grip of their lives and a sense of humour.”

Buck’s Bar has yet to comment.
