Celebrations as Celtic seal seventh title in a row:

CELTIC Football Club celebrated in green and white style yesterday after dominating Rangers 5-0 at Parkhead – cementing their seventh Scottish Premiership league win in a row.

The champagne corks were popping in the Celtic dressing room as the team recognised the win brings the club a step closer to beating the Scottish record for consecutive wins.

The Hoops are now looking to secure 10-in-a-row under current manager Brendan Rodgers.

Two goals from Odsonne Edouard, and shots from James Forrest, Tom Rogic and Callum McGregor helped achieve the win that left the Celtic fans and players celebrating in style.

Line of Duty actor Martin Compston, who is from Greenock but is now based in LA, was among the famous faces watching the game.

He woke up in the early hours of the morning to watch the famous derby.

The screen star, who plays Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott in the hit BBC series, said: “Superb, another one wrapped up.

“Celtic FC on to the real business of the double treble.”

Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko, who is on loan to FC Midtjylland, said: “Celtic cruising casually into seven-in-a-row.”

Hoops star Moussa Dembele told fans on social media that Celtic are the “Kings of Glasgow”.

Club captain Scott Brown said: “Outstanding from start to finish today lads. Thanks for the support.”

He also told the club website: “To do seven-in-arow is fantastic but there’s a lot of hard work ahead of us now, with three more league games before the cup final.

“There are places up for grabs in the cup final so everyone will want a chance.”

Ex-player Stiliyan Petrov, who played for the club under Martin O’Neill’s treble winning side, said: “Congratulations Celtic FC – champions.”

The day, however, was not all about celebrations as Police Scotland had to deploy an operation to keep thousands of fans safe at the full capacity stadium.

Police Scotland officers said they were disappointed with Celtic player Mikael Lustig after he put on an officer’s hat during a goal celebration.

The Hoops defender, 31, celebrated his side taking a 3-0 lead in the Old Firm derby by charging over to fans wearing the policeman’s hat.

A spokeswoman said: “We are disappointed with the player’s actions.

“We have spoken to the club who will deal with the matter internally.

“There will be no further police action.”

Meanwhile, a total of five people were arrested in and around the stadium.

Cops warned fans i n advance there would be a zero-tolerance policy towards anti-social behaviour at the clash.

We previously reported that punters were told they could be arrested on the spot for sneaking pyrotechnics into the game – with specially trained dogs set to sniff them out at the gates.

One was arrested for being drunken and incapable and another had a bottle of alcohol in the stadium.

Police Scotland also made an arrest for possession of a pyrotechnic which are banned from the stadium.

Two arrests were made for sectarian breach of the peace incidents. It is not known whether any of the five have been charged.

Outstanding from start to finish today. Thanks for the support
