TWO teenage boys have been arrested in connection with a fire at the Old Stobhill Hospital.
A 14 and 15-year-old boy have been charged with starting the blaze on Tuesday evening.
Firefighters battled for 12 hours to put out the fire on Balornock Road, which started around 6.20pm.
Work will now be undertaken to preserve listed buildings attached to former hospital which were damaged by fire.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde chiefs have said they have prioritised decommissioned buildings for a phased demolition programme but they will save the B-listed buildings on site.
A spokesperson for the health board said: “The decommissioned buildings on the old Stobhill part of the site have been prioritised for a phased demolition programme.
“Unfortunately, the buildings have been targeted on a number of occasions by local youths who have caused sustained damage.
“We have been working closely with Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service on how we protect these buildings from further damage and fire until demolition.”
