“IT has, excuse the cliché, something for everyone.

“When I visited, I was struck by the sheer variety of what was on offer. I was also struck by how many of these activities I would be doing, while wearing a suit, all in the name of journalism!

“A strong start was the cycling section, where the folks from Glasgow Community Cycle Network were kind enough to let me experience the struggles of a 19th century cycle to work scheme. Although my picture may look graceful, it is certainly a challenge to keep upright. However, I challenge every single reader to give it a go. It was a thoroughly unique experience and a great profile pic.

“I usually think of myself as quite a fit guy, and many may think that the activities at the Green are purely for beginners. However, I discovered that there is a chance for all levels to really push themselves.

“For me, it came in the form of a rowing race with the guys from Club Gym Glasgow. They certainly know how to push you and although I was absolutely thrashed, it felt good to try out something so alien with such helpful coaches.

“I absolutely loved the enthusiasm of the volunteers throughout the Green. Every one is up for a chat and has a story to tell, so when you’re down there, do not hesitate to say hello. I normally approach these events with a sense of absolute professionalism, but after a while, I was looking for random interviews just so I could stay a little longer. However, from me and my torn trousers, remember to dress appropriately. Have fun!”
