POLICE are investigating after two babies died in Glasgow on the same day.

Both were found dead on Monday and were six months old. One was found in a flat in Dennistoun and the other, a girl, in the Castlemilk area.

Post mortem examinations will take place.

Police said the deaths are not linked.

TWO Glasgow tots have been found dead in the city on the same day – prompting a police probe.

The force confirmed yesterday that they were now investigating a second unexplained baby death in the Dennistoun area of Glasgow.

It comes after we reported on the death of a six- monthold girl in the Castlemilk area.

The alarm was raised at a flat in Ark Lane on Monday afternoon and the force said they are treating the death as unexplained.

They provided no further details over the age or sex of the tot.

A post mortem examination is expected to take place in due course.

A force spokeswoman said: “Enquiries are ongoing into the death of a baby at a flat in Ark Lane, Glasgow.

“Police were called to the address at around 2.45pm on Monday August 6.

“A post mortem examination will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death, which officers are treating as unexplained at this time.”

Dennistoun councillor Allan Casey said: “I am deeply sorry to hear this has happened and my thoughts go out to everyone involved.”

The latest probe comes after a baby girl died earlier this week. She was found unwell at her Castlemilk home.

We previously reported on the death of the six- month old which also happened on Monday.

The force confirmed today that their investigation into that death continues.

Meanwhile, police are investigating after a schoolgirl was brought to a health centre to be treated for burns.

The six- year- old was taken into Govanhill Health Centre on Thursday where the alarm was raised at around 12.10pm.

The Evening Times understands that she was taken from a property in Bankhall Street to the local health centre.

It is not known how she acquired the injuries but she was then rushed to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

Several cops cars swooped into Bankhall Street shortly after and a police officer stood guard at a close.

City detectives were also at the scene and appeared to be handling evidence, wearing white gloves.
