MORE than £ 2,000 has been raised to help the family of two brothers found dead in Newton Mearns.

The two men were found in separate properties on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Castle Road at around 3.15pm, where the body of 29- year- old John Mitchell was discovered.

Detectives were then sent to nearby Moorhill Crescent where they found the body of 28- year- old Scott inside.

In the days since, £ 2,135 has been raised by wellwishers for their devastated loved ones.

Carly Anne Collins, the girlfriend of John, posted a heartbreaking tribute on social media.

She wrote: “Miss u soo much my beautiful boy! Luv u.”

Friend Tony O’Neill wrote: “Can’t believe what I am hearing John. RIP you and Scott. Gutted.”

Stu Monty posted: “Absolutely gutted to hear of you and Scott’s sad passing.

“Had some belters of nights out over the years.”

Paula Law wrote: “Can’t imagine how you all feel.

“It’s horrendous. This has broken everyone in the community as they both were lovely boys who wouldn’t harm a fly.”

It is believed that both brothers had spent Saturday evening together before heading to different addresses.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “At around 3.15pm on Sunday afternoon, officers were called to reports that a 29- year- old man had died in Castle Road.

“On making further enquiries, officers attended a property in Moorhill Crescent.

“There the body of a 28- year- old man was found.

“Police investigations are now being carried out.”
