Knife- thug slashed victim on the face
A KNIFE thug who brutally slashed a man in the street later boasted to police: “I done him – simples.”
George Linton attacked the victim in Clydebank in May this year.
A judge heard the pair knew each other as their partners were sisters.
But a confrontation between the men ended up with the victim being scarred for life.
Linton – who already had a history of violence – has now been jailed for five years at the High Court in Glasgow.
The 39- year- old had admitted assaulting his victim to his injury and p e r m a n e n t disfigurement.
The attack happened close to Linton’s lover’s home in Clydebank on May 21.
The thug was clocked with a large blade – later described as “the biggest knife” in the block it came from.
The victim backed off, but Linton then “swiped” at him.
Prosecutor Bernard Ablett said the 34- yearold went to hospital – but initially claimed he had been robbed by a mystery man.
Police later held Linton on a separate matter and he stated: “I was expecting you to turn up this morning.”
He was quizzed about the attack and admitted: “I done him. I slashed him. Simples.”
Linton, of Dalmuir, claimed the weapon was “like a butcher’s knife”.
The court heard the victim suffered a cheek wound just below the right eye. Lorraine Glancy, defending, said Linton had “stupidly” gone out when the victim shouted for him.
Lady Stacey said: “The courts have to take an extremely serious view on individuals who take out large kitchen knives and use them.”
