Man in court charged with murder over dismembered body
A MAN has been charged with murdering a missing father and dismembering his body.
David Collins appeared before Paisley Sheriff Court hours after police confirmed the death of Kevin Bishop.
Mr Bishop, 32, was last seen in the Renfrewshire town on July 27 and was formally reported missing on 4 August.
Mr Collins, 46, is accused of murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice. He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.
Mr Bishop’s remains were discovered on Monday.
According to the charges he is accused of killing Mr Bishop by unknown means, then cutting up his body and dumping it in a bin.
Mr Collins is also said to have tried to clean his flat, where prosecutors claim he murdered Mr Bishop.
Prosecutors allege he murdered Mr Bishop just hours after he was last seen on 27 July.
The attempt to defeat the ends of justice charge states that he “did dismember the remains of the said Kevin Bishop using a sharp bladed implement” between July 27 and August 12 this year.
Mr Collins, of Schaw Road, in the Gallowhill area of Paisley, is also accused of dumping some body parts in “unknown locations”.
Meanwhile, tributes were paid to Mr Bishop online.
Joan Readman commented: “Sorry to hear this thoughts with all the family.”

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “A 46-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with his death.
Renfrewshire Council have confirmed that there would be a delay on emptying the bins in Schaw Road, Claud Road, Netherhill Crescent and Gallowhill Road.
