Get involved

-

Keeping your best players is what you need to do to realise the ambitions that you have.

And yes, I do still think that there will be at least one or two new arrivals before the window shuts.

Jack Hendry has come in for a lot of criticism of late which I think is a bit harsh. He was brought in to get some experience but the way that things have played out he has been pushed into a pivotal role before he is quite ready for it.

I actually like the look of Scott McKenna at Aberdeen. He’s the kind of big, imposing centre-half who could come in and make a difference.

There has been a bit of chat about that one but we’ll have to wait and see how it develops.

Once the focus returns again to football and getting on with the business of winning games, the tension around the club will ease.

Rodgers has never been in a situation at Celtic where he has lost back-to-back games, which is way it was so important to come out of Saturday’s game with a win.

But I don’t see any need for a public kiss and make-up session between Brendan and the board.

‘‘ Celtic are a far better team with Dembele in it. He makes them more dynamic and I’d build the team around him

Do you agree with John – or do you think he’s way off the mark? We’d love to know what you think. sport@ eveningtimes. co.uk, or

He didn’t get John McGinn and there is fault on the board’s part for that. They dragged their heels and it cost them but other than I don’t think there has been too much to complain about.

And what has gone on at Celtic goes on at every club up and down the country. But as the dominant team there are people desperate to seize upon some perceived vulnerability.

There is time yet to get a few players in and then you get the chance to go again. You get the chance to do your talking on the pitch.

There has been a lot of talk about how resurgent Rangers are but I still think Celtic are by far the stronger of the two.

But what you have to do is forget the squabbling over the likes of McGinn – he is long gone – and get on with getting the performance levels up.

A couple of new players will lift the players and lift the support and then it is case of delivering the same success that the club have enjoyed since Rodgers arrived.
