Ross believes he can be man in the middle

-

ROSS McCRORIE is confident Steven Gerrard can help him go from strength to strength and realise his potential in the middle of the park.

The 20-year-old burst onto the scene at Ibrox last term and turned in a series of impressive performances in both defence and midfield.

Former boss Pedro Caixinha tipped him to go on and become a Rangers and Scotland great after his debut against Partick Thistle.

But McCrorie had to learn harsh lessons in the Old Firm encounters as he struggled to cope with the Celtic attack at times.

McCrorie said: “At centre-back you are maybe not on the ball but I like being right amongst it all. I like putting a tackle in and getting on the ball.

“The manager was a great midfielder but you’ve also got Gary McAllister as well. All the coaches are all great.

“Steven Gerrard was the best of his generation and if you can’t learn from him then you’re struggling.”

be given a sustained run of first-team action this term.

McCrorie said: “If he gets the chance, we will wait and see how he does. Glenn is a great wee player. I have played with him for Scotland a couple of years ago. He’s quick and very direct and he’s a great option to have in the team.

“But we also have Daniel Candeias and Ryan Kent there too so we will see how it pans out for him.

“He spoke to my brother more because they were in the same changing room, but I think Glenn maybe puts too much pressure on himself.

“He maybe needs to be not so tough on himself if he makes a mistake and just be more positive. Glenn’s a great wee player and I’m sure he can make it all the way.”
