Milky keen to be cream of the crop

netted four goals in three games when played up front, but I’m just happy to be holding down a place in our team which is looking exceptionally strong on the back of us making a decent start to our season.

“Archie [Ross McPherson], Thomas Collins and Andy Reid are most likely to be in the running for the up-front places going by current form, and Joe Bradley or the fit-again Darren Christie may get the nod to replace Paul Frize who is going to a wedding and is a definite non-starter.

“Not having Paul is a blow but we have good options and the same applies in the case of Nikky Docherty and Kevin McDonald, both rated doubtful with injuries, however it says everything about our strength in depth that we have players of the calibre of Steven Noble and Kevin Green filling the jerseys.”

Milliken, now in his second season with the Mighty, admitted to looking out for his former club’s results.

He said: “I look out for all the Premiership teams but especially Talbot – but that’s only because I look upon them as one of our biggest rivals .

“I’m never fussed about how they do just as long as Beith win but it grates a bit if we do slip up and they come out on top.

“They are already looking to be into their stride and it was noticeable that their Sectional League Cup quarter final defeat of Whitletts Vics last Monday was achieved with Graham and Stevie Wilson, Mark Shankland and Jack McDowall sitting on the bench .

“They were rested with Saturday’s game in mind so Tucker clearly wanted to have a few aces up his sleeve.”
