Holt insists he’s happy with Livi set-up because he’s ‘not a dictator’

-

GARY Holt is adamant he is no “dictator” and is happy to inherit his backroom staff at Livingston after taking the helm at the club following Kenny Miller’s shock exit.

The former Kilmarnock and Norwich City midfielder, who was interviewed when Miller was given the job this summer, has been named the Lions’ new head coach and insists he is thrilled to be back in work after two years out of the game. Miller was removed from the post at the weekend, with the club’s board claiming they had become concerned at the former Scotland striker’s player/manager role.

It has been suggested, however, that tensions had surfaced because of the influence of assistantmanager David Martindale, who Miller accepted as his No 2 on his arrival just two months ago. But Holt – who had a 14-month spell in charge of Falkirk before returning to former club Norwich in June 2014 – insists he has no issue with the Livingston set-up. The former Scotland cap said: “I’m not interested in [the details of Miller’s exit]. What’s done is done.

“I’m fortunate that the position became available and it’s mine now. I’ve got to put my own stamp on it.”

Asked if he was happy inheriting his backroom staff, he added: “Definitely. I’m not a dictator, I’m easy-osy.

“I have my rules, I have my discipline and how I work, but when I came in it just felt like a natural fit.

“I bounced off the staff. Me and David had a great couple of hours and I sat with the board for a couple of hours, and it just felt like I’d been here a long time.”
