Celts are not desperate to add, says Scott

CELTIC captain Scott Brown has insisted the Hoops players are not agitating for new arrivals at the club as the minutes tick down to the closure of the transfer window.

Further reinforcements are expected to arrive between now and Friday.

There has been widespread criticism this month as Celtic have failed to add to Odsonne Edouard, Daniel Arzani and Emilio Izaguirre while Brendan Rodgers has made no secret of his own irritation at how the window has unfolded.

“We’re fine,” said Brown. “We’ve got a big squad just now as it is.

“Everyone wants you to sign Ronaldo but we are happy enough with what we’ve got just now and if the gaffer wants to bring more in, that’s up to him and his backroom staff. But for us, we just need to make sure we keep winning.”

Brown was reluctant to reveal what was said between him and Boyata when clear-the-air talks were held with the defender at Lennoxtown last week, however he did maintain that there is no lingering animosity.

“What’s said at Celtic Park and Lennoxtown stays at Celtic Park and Lennoxtown,” said Brown.

“But it cleared the air. Of course it did. We are right behind him.

“He wants to play and that’s the main thing. He showed his qualities today – he was outstanding from start to finish and he got his goal to set off a great day.

“I didn’t see [the banner]. We are all together and that’s the main thing for us.

“It’s been a hard week for him but it’s fantastic at the end of it. He’s scored the goal and got us the three points we deserved. I’m pleased for him – it shows his character and as I said, we are together in the dressing room.”
