JAI’S A JAG Quitongo vows to put injuries behind him at Partick Thistle

-

PARTICK THISTLE manager Alan Archibald bolstered his ranks on deadline day by signing Jai Quitongo and Dan Jefferies.

Quitongo joins after a compensation fee was agreed with Championship rivals Morton – who Thistle take on at Firhill today – with the attacker signing an initial deal until January.

The 20-year-old scored 11 goals in 51 appearances while at Cappielow in what was an injury-hit spell with the club. Son of former Hearts star Jose, the forward came through the ranks at Hamilton and Aberdeen before given his chance in senior football with the Greenock club.

“After having a long chat with the manager, he made me feel wanted here,” Quitongo said.

“Everyone knows I’ve had a few injuries here and there, but I feel as if I’ve turned a corner and I feel as if I’m ready to kick on.”

Central defender Jefferies will also initially be at the club until January having joined on loan from Premiership outfit Dundee.

The 19-year-old Welshman came through the ranks at Swansea City before moving on to English League Two side Colchester City.

He won a contract at Dens Park last January after a short trial spell and made his top-team debut in the Scottish Premiership win over Hamilton on the final day of last season.

Jefferies will provide defensive cover for Thistle with summer signing Thomas O’Ware ruled out for the remainder of the season after picking up a knee injury in last weekend’s defeat to Dundee United at Tannadice.
