GERS BRING IN TWO AND REJECT OFFERS

-

deal, with an option to buy, was rebuffed from West Brom for the services of Tavernier, while Bordeaux were unsuccessful with a further late bid for the club’s Colombian striker.

Worrall, still only 21 and an England youth player, spoke of his delight at getting the deal done and said that the club’s fans could expect him to play no-nonsense football. He goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s Old Firm match at Celtic Park.

“I’m over the moon,” Worrall told Rangers TV, “it is a massive football club, I don’t need to say any more than that.

“The lads have given me a warm welcome, I am excited to be here and I can’t wait to pull on the shirt. I am a big tough centre-half, and it is a demanding league as is the Championship where I have come from, I have played enough to know what to expect.

“I get labelled a ‘head it and kick it’ centre-half but I back my ability with the ball. If you watch the games where I have been involved in the England set-up but my main attributes are being the brick wall at the back and a leader as well, that is what I pride myself on in a nutshell.”

Meanwhile, young striker Zak Rudden has been sent on loan to Falkirk until the end of the season.

Elsewhere, Ryan Jack has been drafted into the Scotland squad for the Hampden Park doubleheader with Belgium and Albania.

The 26-year-old Rangers midfielder got the call from boss Alex McLeish after Fulham captain Tom Cairney and Celtic defender Jack Hendry withdrew due to injuries earlier in the week.
