Murder bid hunt launched after attacks

VIOLENCE unfolded on the streets of the East End of Glasgow following Sunday’s Old Firm match.

Streets in Dennistoun were locked down due to a disturbanc­e while a teenage boy was the victim of a vicious attack now being treated as attempted murder.

The incidents came following the Old Firm match at Celtic Park.

Police are hunting a group of teenagers for the attempted murder of another teenager on London Road.

A 19-year-old man was attacked by the group around 7.50pm near to Helenslea Park. The victim went into a nearby bar and police were called before he was taken to the Glasgow Infirmary.

He remains in a stable condition while officers search for the attackers – aged between 14 and 17.

Detective Constable Eilidh Marshall, Shettlesto­n Police Office, said: “This incident is being treated as attempted murder due to the seriousnes­s of the man’s injuries.”

Elsewhere, three men were rushed to hospital following a disturbanc­e on Duke Street.

Police were called to Duke Street around 6.40pm and were forced to close the road between Bellgrove Street and Sword Street. Three men aged 27, 29 and 32-years-old were taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The 29-year-old was said to be in a stable condition. Inquiries into the disturbanc­e are ongoing. Royal
