Mind the gap Gers ...because Sunday proved it’s still huge

I DON’T think there is any need to worry about an eight successive title party coming.

I was at the game on Sunday and I have to say that for me the gap is as big as it has ever been.

Celtic beat Rangers 5-0 last April and it could have been the same again on Sunday had it not been for the woodwork and a goalkeeper who shouldn’t have been on the park.

Allan McGregor had a blatant kick at Kristoffer Ajer and there is no way he should have got away with that. It was petulant and it was obvious and he should never have been in between the sticks to save that header from Odsonne Edouard.

There was so much talk in the build-up to it from Rangers supporters and sections of the media all believing that it would be closer but there is not a chance that the Ibrox side are anywhere near catching Celtic.

I also thought that Steven Gerrard was way off it after the game with his comments. I actually thought that Ryan Jack jumped into Tom Rogic, who then got away from him.

And let’s be honest here, there was about half an hour gone before Willie Collum actually booked a Rangers player.

Scott Brown got booked after Kyle Lafferty took a clear dive and there were meaty challenges from Rangers players going in. So to be complaining about the incident with Jack was a nonsense.

Celtic moved the ball well, they commanded the game, they had Rangers all over the place. Kieran Tierney was excellent, Brown just went out and did what he does best, James Forrest was very good, Callum McGregor was good, Olivier Ntcham (right) was exceptional and Dedryck Boyata did not put a foot wrong.

And that sums it up for me – Celtic have big-game players.
