CRAIG GORDON Good hands early on to gather a Dries Mertens free-kick, but was at fault when too quick to roll the ball out to McGinn when he was dispossessed for Belgium’s opener. Made amends with good double save from Hazard and Lukaku, but questions could also be asked of him as Hazard’s strike went in over his head ................................ 5 RYAN FRASER Deployed as a right wing-back and had his hands full with Hazard drifting over to his side, but tried to get up in support of the attack when he could and always offered himself as an out ball, getting a few shots away late in the second half ........ 6 ANDY ROBERTSON The new captain’s big night didn’t quite go to plan, as he struggled to make any real impact on the game as an attacking force and was pegged back for the majority of the match by Thorgan Hazard .................. 5 JOHN SOUTTAR Showed off his range of passing early on and couldn’t really be blamed for any of Belgium’s goals which, on the night, marked him out amongst his team-mates. Looked unsure of his role on the left of the back three, not always being sure when to stick or twist. Didn’t do much wrong in possession though, and stuck to his task defensively ................... 6 JOHN McGINN Was detailed to get close to Hazard and gave that task his all, but has to share the blame with Gordon for Belgium’s opener. Ball to him wasn’t great, but sloppy touch allowed Moussa Dembele to nick in .............. 5 KEVIN McDONALD Fulham man tried to get on the ball early on and pick a pass, but didn’t really get a grip of the match at any stage and was replaced early in the second half ...... 5

LEIGH GRIFFITHS A difficult task leading the line on his own in the first half up against Vincent Kompany, Dedryck Boyata and Jan Vertonghen, but always a willing runner and showed a deft touch to bring others into play on occasion.
