Police link mobile phone robberies to one knifeman
CITY detectives investigating a spate of robberies where teenage boys had their mobile phones snatched in the South Side have linked the crimes.
Police Scotland confirmed this week they are considering the same suspect for at least five violent robberies.
The investigation is being headed up by the force’s Community Investigation Unit, based in Govan.
It comes after we reported a 13-year-old was left terrified by a robbery on his birthday in the Pollokshields area on Monday, September 10, at around 3.40pm.
The victim was walking along Terregles Avenue when he a man on a bike approached and demanded his mobile phone.
The boy tried to get away through Maxwell Park but the robber chased him and caught up with him in Springkell Avenue near St Andrews Drive where he threatened the victim with a knife to get his mobile phone.
And, in similar incidents, at least four schoolboys had their phones snatched on Monday, September 3.

The robbery happened at around 3.30pm and 20 minutes later a 12-year-old boy also had his phone snatched on Langside Avenue near Tantallon Road.
Then, at 3.55pm, a 14-yearold boy was robbed of his phone on Langside Avenue near the Ivory Hotel. The suspect in all thefts is described as Asian, mid 20s, 5ft 9in to 5ft 10in, with dark brown or black hair and slim-to-medium build.
The Evening Times understands that officers have been reviewing CCTV in a bid to catch the serial robber.
They also previously appealed for anyone who witnessed the incidents or saw a man of the description provided to come forward.
