Clyde boss Lennon cools talks of return to Raith Rovers

-

DANNY Lennon has distanced himself from a move to take the vacant manager’s role at old club Raith Rovers.

The Clyde boss was a fans’ favourite during his six years at the club, where he won the 1994 League Cup and scored the famous goal that briefly gave Rovers the lead against Bayern Munich in the Olympic Stadium.

With the Stark’s Park board having met on Monday night to progress their search for a successor to Barry Smith, supporters have identified Lennon as a preferred choice.

However, the former St Mirren and Alloa boss insists he is happy plying his trade with Clyde.

He said:“It’s a compliment to be linked with any role. I had a good number of years at Raith Rovers. It’s a club close to my heart, where I created some great memories, but I’m in a great place.

“I’m absolutely loving working with the chairman here at Clyde. He’s the best I’ve ever worked for, and I’m working with some great directors and good people. We’ve just got our squad complete and I love coming to my work.”

Meanwhile, Clyde are facing punishment from the Scottish FA after receiving a notice of complaint following their 2-1 win over Annan Athletic on September 1.

The Bully Wee have been accused of breaching disciplinary rule 204, where “three or more players and/ or members of staff are involved in a confrontation with with opposing players and/or members of staff during and/or directly after a match”.

Clyde have until today to respond.
